About local development
Local development means building and testing your project on your own computer, instead of on a remote server.
When you use Mistle:
- Your app runs on your machine while you’re building it
- Changes show up immediately, without publishing anything
- Nothing is public until you choose to deploy
This setup is faster, safer, and more forgiving. You can experiment, make mistakes, and fix things without affecting real users.
Later, when you’re happy with your work, you’ll deploy it so others can access it online.
What Mistle sets up for you
Mistle prepares your computer with the core set of tools needed to build applications.
Here’s what gets set up:
-
System tools
Required system-level tools for your operating system, so your computer can run modern apps reliably.
- macOS: Xcode Command Line Tools
- Windows: Powershell 7
-
Git
Keeps track of your changes so you can experiment safely, undo mistakes, and merge work with confidence.
-
Project environment (via Mise)
Ensures each project runs with the right setup and tool versions, without conflicts between projects.
