What is a branch?

A branch is your personal workspace. You can make changes there without affecting anyone else until you decide to merge.

Start a workstream

  1. If Git is connected, create a new branch (name it after your task, like welcome-banner).
  2. Make your changes in that branch.
  3. Check your spec or checklist and make sure everything is done.

Stay in sync

  • Before you finish, pull the latest updates from the main branch so you don’t miss others’ changes.
  • If there’s a conflict, read the prompts; choose the version that matches your plan or ask for help.

Merge safely

  1. Review your changes: do they match your spec’s success checks?
  2. Merge your branch into main when everything passes your checks.
  3. If you’re unsure, ask a teammate to review the summary of what changed.
